Martin Sturdik, MA, is coordinator of Korean studies at Palacký University. He received his master’s degree in International Economics and is currently enrolled in a PhD program at the Department of East Asian Studies of Zürich University, Switzerland, working on a thesis about the identity of former outcasts in Japan. After completing his graduate studies, he worked for various companies both in Europe and Asia and held several managerial positions before returning to academia. At the Korean section of the Department of East Asian Studies at Palacký University he teaches various introductory subjects.
His other duties include the promotion of Korean studies, networking between Korean studies at Palacký University and Korean and European universities, and communicating with Korean companies, the Korean Embassy and Korean institutions. His main areas of interest are social movements in East Asia and current socioeconomic developments in South Korea.
